A few weeks ago I opened my freezer and found blue gel running down packages and pooling on the bottom. I hoped that it was an ice pack, but sadly it was coming from my ice cream maker. It looks like the weak spot is where the bowl snaps into the back of the mixer to provide stability while the ice cream is churned by the beater. Sadly, I need to decide whether to replace my KitchenAid or whether I should move in another direction, so in the mean time, no more ice cream recipes.
My main choices are KitchenAid again, a standalone freezer bowl model (like this), or an all-out compressor built-in model (such as this one). Like everything, they each have advantages and disadvantages.
