After a reading other people’s food blogs for a couple of years, I decided to create my own in early 2007. After several contenders, the alliterative Roasting Rambler won out and I’ve been writing about my experimentation with food ever since. I like trying new recipes, but I often get stuck on a particular type of food (pizza, oatmeal, french toast) and then I play around with variations for weeks until I’m either happy or so exasperated that I give up.

My friends and coworkers are my (usually) willing guinea pigs. This site is my record of successes and occasional failures (if I don’t like it, but others do, it may end up on the site). For a while, I was also writing a food column on InsiderIowa.com.
