I just found your site from a link on Sourdough Monkey, clicked originally because I loved the name, lingered because I loved the idea of stout and chocolate, and comment now after seeing your link to La Quercia. I just discovered La Quercia myself during a trip back to Iowa for my fiancee's annual family bike ride. Fine state. Fine pork. And - oh! - that is some lovely prosciutto that La Quercia offers! Had I not broken my absolutely favorite suitcase (a rolling cooler) on my way to the airport, I would have filled it with La Quercia....and, well....there are a lot of good Iowa ingredients that I could dream of carrying back to Alaska. I look forward to reading more of what you are cooking up in Ames!

Wow. Kill-er. But what about the accompanying jokes of pairing alcohol with coffee: you mean, you want to be awake enough so you can feel yourself hit the floor?

No, really. These brownies sound great. What about using a porter instead of stout. I'm about to bottle a few and it would be a nice time to cook with it as it has no carbonation.

Lis, thank you so much. I have visited your site recently and must say that I will be returning often.

Jes, I'm always amazed at the ingenuity of cooks who work within strict confines - I must confess I'll probably never cook many of the vegan recipes I find, I do "borrow" ideas all the time.
